How to replace a waste washer

To replace the rubber washers found inside the body of the bar waste sockets please follow the instructions below.

  1. Check that the system is NOT IN USE.
  2. Remove the front of the socket by turning the main body counter-clockwise.
  3. Carefully unscrew the body making sure the washer and non-return valve (consists of a plastic piston with a black "o" ring and a metal spring) are not dropped (and lost !).
  4. Remove the non-return valve and remove the black washer.
  5. Replace the washer with your new one.
  6. Replace the non-return valve AFTER it has been rinsed clean.

IMPORTANT! The spring should be visible from the rear of the assembly NOT the front. If you can see the edge of the spring after the whole socket has been re-assembled, the non-return valve is the wrong way round and will block the socket.

  7. Screw the body back onto the under bar assembly clockwise and only hand tight. Over-tightening will make it difficult to remove in the future.
  8. If you want to double-check that the socket is now ok, simply connect a waste hose to the socket and blow down the hose. If air passes with ease then the socket has been successfully maintained. If air does not pass through at all then there is another problem with the socket or with that section of the bar installation. Contact Phoenix for further advice.

How to repair a waste hose

Repairing a split waste hose end is very simple. Just snip (or cut with a sharp blade) about 5mm below the longest split, across the diameter of the hose.

Good as new !
